Celonis The European alternative to UiPath Process Mining

Celonis is a process intelligence company organised as an SE, with headquarters in Munich and New York and founded in 2011. The platform reads event logs from ERP, CRM and other business systems such as SAP, Oracle, Salesforce or ServiceNow and reconstructs how processes actually run. Based on these analyses, it identifies bottlenecks, compliance issues and automation opportunities in flows like order-to-cash, procure-to-pay and supply chain. Celonis is used by large enterprises in manufacturing, banking, telecommunications and the public sector.

The Celonis platform is operated in several cloud regions and, depending on the contract, can be hosted in the EU or the US on Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services. European customers can choose EU regions such as Frankfurt or Dublin so that event log data stays within the EU. Because AWS and Azure are US-headquartered providers, GDPR and international data transfer rules still apply, which Celonis covers through data processing agreements. For particularly sensitive environments, private deployment options are also available.

Process mining is the automated analysis of business processes based on event data that already exists in IT systems. Celonis connects to systems such as SAP, extracts timestamps and activities and visualises the real process flow, including loops, deviations and bottlenecks. On this basis, organisations can derive measures ranging from process redesign to rule-based automation and integration with AI agents. Celonis has developed process mining since 2011 from an academic technique into a commercial platform.
