Mission

Only EU is a directory of European software, products and services. The site maps which alternatives exist in Europe, where their strengths lie and which legal framework they operate under.

European software is often described as an alternative. Many of these products have existed for years and solve problems that are treated as afterthoughts elsewhere: strict data protection, clear liability, open standards, transparent pricing.

Only EU is positioned clearly: in favour of European digital sovereignty. Not against US technology, but in favour of working alternatives with their own profile.

Who is behind it

Only EU is operated by Manuel Fresser from Graz, Austria.

How products are selected

Three criteria decide whether a product is listed:

  • Company headquartered in the EU, EEA or Switzerland
  • GDPR-compliant data processing
  • No US parent company and no US control over the underlying infrastructure

Every entry is reviewed manually. Community submissions are welcome and can be sent in via the "Suggest a product" button on every category page.

Transparency and funding

Only EU uses affiliate links. They are marked as such and point to the official websites of the providers. There are no extra costs for you. Full details in the Affiliate Disclosure.

The order in which products appear is not influenced by affiliate status. Products without an affiliate programme are listed on equal terms with those that have one.

The site runs no advertising, shows no paywall and uses no ad-funded tracking. Reach is measured via a self-hosted Plausible Analytics instance without cookies.
