Babyphone Timmy

Babyphone Timmy is an app from a sole proprietorship based in Zurich that connects two smartphones into a baby monitor. One device stays with the child, and parents use the second one to listen over the internet and optionally watch video. Two parents can listen and watch at the same time. The app allows talking to the child and playing soothing sounds. A status indicator shows whether the devices are connected.

According to the privacy policy, audio and video are end-to-end encrypted via WebRTC and preferably transmitted directly between the devices. If a direct connection is not possible, the provider's own TURN server in Switzerland relays the encrypted stream, with Cloudflare Calls, based in the United States, as a fallback. For the backend the app uses Google Firebase (authentication, database, functions and hosting), and Google Crashlytics for crash reports, both US services. According to the provider, no decrypted audio or video content is stored on servers. The technical infrastructure is therefore partly non-European.

No, according to the provider the app works without an account. The privacy policy explicitly states that no email addresses, passwords, location data or advertising IDs are collected. There are no cloud recordings, no advertising and no tracking in the app. After the free download, 10 minutes of live monitoring are available for testing.
