What is Terralog and what is it used for? +

Text, photos, sound or video can be added to each stage. No account is needed, and with a map downloaded in advance the journal also works without a network. Does Terralog run on European infrastructure? +

According to the privacy policy, shared content is stored on a one.com server in Copenhagen, and map tiles come from the operator's own server. Place search, routing, nearby search and weather use Nominatim, OSRM, Overpass and Open-Meteo, which according to the operator's measurements respond from Belgium, Switzerland, Finland and Germany. Lemon Squeezy is based in the USA and acts as merchant of record for website purchases, handling payment as the only party that sees card details. The er-api currency conversion service also responds from the USA. Optional push notifications run through Google, Apple or Mozilla depending on the browser, and therefore outside the EU.

How does sharing work on Terralog? +

As long as nothing is shared, notes, photos and budget do not leave the device. Shared content is encrypted with AES-256-GCM before sending, and the key is derived from a passphrase on the device. It sits in the link after the # character, which browsers do not send to the server. Metadata such as the coordinates and dates of stages and the names of links remain readable for the server. Each link is assigned to one recipient and can be revoked individually, but anyone who holds it can read the content. According to the operator, no external audit has been carried out.
