Frequently asked questions about DoneThat
What is DoneThat and what is it used for? +
DoneThat is an automatic time tracker for Windows, macOS and Linux from Letss B.V. in Amsterdam. The desktop app captures screen activity and uses AI to assign it to tasks, so that times do not have to be entered by hand. This produces daily summaries as well as reports on focus time, meetings, projects and goals. It also includes an AI assistant for questions about the user's week and daily reports for Slack, Discord or email. The provider positions the product as productivity tracking rather than timesheet billing.
Does DoneThat run on European infrastructure? +
Partly, and the core infrastructure comes from a US corporation. According to the trust portal, data, compute and AI models are located on Google Cloud Platform in Belgium, and by default Gemini models analyse captures via Google Vertex AI in the EU. Sign-in runs on Firebase Authentication in the USA, and according to the privacy policy AI processing and authentication may also use global infrastructure including US servers. Other sub-processors with a US data location are Postmark, Slack, Audienceful and Apollo, while Cloudflare and Stripe operate globally and Attio in the UK and globally. PostHog and Sentry use EU locations. Only with a user's own language model do raw data bypass DoneThat's AI partners, in which case only structured activity data reaches its servers.
Who can see the activities captured by DoneThat? +
Entries start out private and can be reviewed and edited before the day is finalised. When sharing, the visibility levels private, team, organisation and public are available, and relative percentages can be shared instead of absolute hours. Excluded apps are obscured locally before data is sent for processing. According to the provider, screenshots are deleted after processing. Activity titles and descriptions can be permanently redacted after daily processing, and individual entries can be deleted.
