Frequently asked questions about Paperkeep
What is Paperkeep and what is it used for? +
Paperkeep is a browser extension for Chrome, Edge and Firefox on desktop. It detects the invoices available on an online service's billing page and downloads the selected documents to the Downloads › Factures folder. Files receive a consistent name made up of date, supplier and amount. Supported sources include Stripe billing portals and pages listing PDFs, and for services without a PDF the page is saved as a single file. The interface is available in French, Dutch and English, and the website does not mention a German version.
Does Paperkeep run on European infrastructure? +
The extension works without a server of its own, and invoices and the supplier list stay in the browser's local storage and the downloads folder. The website is hosted on GitHub Pages by GitHub, Inc. For the Pro version, the extension checks the subscription status with ExtensionPay, and payment runs through Stripe. The optional VAT reminder is sent via Kit (ConvertKit LLC, USA), and the withdrawal form passes name, email address and reference to a Google Apps Script. Emails are kept in mailboxes at Infomaniak and Gmail, and according to the privacy policy replies to usage questions are partly drafted by Claude from Anthropic.
What role does Peppol play for Paperkeep? +
Paperkeep targets invoices that do not arrive through the Peppol network. According to the provider, invoices from Belgian suppliers have reached accounting software directly since 2026, while suppliers established abroad are not covered. Their invoices remain in the customer account on each website and have to be collected there one by one. This mainly concerns software, online tools and advertising. Paperkeep Pro adds a monthly checklist of suppliers, missing-invoice alerts and a summary for the accountant.
