For product development, data is transferred to Amplitude Inc. and its provider Amazon Web Services, alongside services such as Mailgun, Leanplum, and Zendesk. Data can be processed both inside the EEA and outside it, including in the USA. EU-only hosting is not guaranteed.

Sleep Cycle captures sleep data through several phone sensors. The microphone records snoring or other noises, and the accelerometer detects movements in bed. Optionally, the camera can measure pulse. From this raw data the app derives bed and wake times and metrics such as sleep efficiency and sleep quality. The alarm uses this analysis to wake the user during a light sleep phase within the configured wake window.
