What is Internxt and what is it used for? +

Internxt is an encrypted cloud storage from Valencia (Spain), founded in 2020. The product portfolio includes Drive for file storage, Send for encrypted file transfers, plus VPN, Mail, Antivirus, and Meet. The service uses three-layer encryption with AES-256 and post-quantum encryption (Kyber-512). All clients are open source and were independently audited by Securitum in 2024.

Does Internxt run on European infrastructure? +

Internxt is based in Valencia, Spain, and is therefore subject to the GDPR. According to the provider, storage runs on OVHcloud data centers in a multi-cloud setup that is not limited to European locations. The company is ISO 27001:2022 certified. All files are encrypted client-side before they leave the device, so the provider has no access to their contents.

What is post-quantum encryption at Internxt? +

According to its own statements, Internxt automatically uses post-quantum cryptography (Kyber-512) in addition to standard end-to-end encryption with AES-256. This technique is intended to protect data against future quantum computing attacks that could break asymmetric encryption used today. The implementation has been running since 2024 and is automatically active for all users. This addresses the risk where encrypted data could be intercepted today and decrypted later with quantum computers ("harvest now, decrypt later").
