Frequently asked questions about Fjällräven

What is Fjällräven and what is it used for? +

Fjällräven is a Swedish outdoor company from Örnsköldsvik, founded in 1960. The company produces outdoor clothing, backpacks, tents, and equipment. The Kånken backpack is one of its most well-known products. Fjällräven belongs to the Fenix Outdoor group and is known for G-1000 fabric (a blend of polyester and cotton with wax treatment).

Is Fjällräven manufactured in Europe? +

The majority of Fjällräven products are manufactured in China, Vietnam, and South Korea. In Sweden, the "Swedish Wool" project (since 2017) processes untreated wool: spinning and knitting take place directly in Sweden. Design and product development are based at the Swedish headquarters. Production processes and quality controls from Swedish manufacturing have been transferred to the Asian sites.

How sustainably does Fjällräven produce? +

Fjällräven relies on durable products as a core sustainability strategy. G-1000 fabric can be retreated with Greenland Wax and thus repaired. The company publishes a Restricted Substance List and works with bluesign-certified fabrics. The Swedish Wool project uses wool from Swedish sheep that would otherwise be discarded as waste.
