SMTPeter The European alternative to SendGrid

SMTPeter is a service for sending transactional email, such as order confirmations, password links or system notifications. Applications hand over messages via SMTP or through a REST API. SMTPeter processes the messages before delivery, signs them with DKIM, rewrites links for click tracking and converts CSS into inline styles. It also offers template editors, personalization with variables, bounce handling and an archive of sent messages. The service is operated by Copernica BV from Amsterdam.

According to the privacy policy, the servers of Copernica BV are located in the Netherlands. Its own servers and those of the hosting provider Leaseweb are housed in the Iron Mountain data center in Haarlem, with backups in a euNetworks data center in Amsterdam. AWS, Google Cloud or Azure are not named as the hosting platform. For its own website and internal processes, however, the privacy policy lists US services such as Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Slack.

The base plan costs EUR 55 per month and includes up to 25,000 emails, one IP address and one sender domain. Beyond that, billing is per 1,000 emails, with prices decreasing at higher volumes, from EUR 0.23 to EUR 0.05. A technical support contract is available for EUR 89 per month. No free plan is listed on the pricing page.
