Does Mindtime run on European infrastructure? +
According to the provider, backups are stored exclusively in Tier III data centres in Germany and the Netherlands, on its own infrastructure and without hyperscalers. AWS, Azure and Google Cloud appear only as customer source systems being backed up, not as a storage location. The website does not name the backup software underlying the service. The website itself embeds Google Analytics 4 with Google Consent Mode v2, and statistics and marketing cookies are set only after consent. The English privacy policy also names a tracking cookie from Google Adwords.
How does Mindtime protect backups against ransomware? +
Mindtime applies the 3-2-1-1-0 rule by default: three copies, two storage types, one off-site copy and one immutable copy, plus an automatic check of every job. According to the provider, the immutable copy is created through Object Lock and an air-gapped copy. According to the provider, such backups cannot be changed or deleted. Transfer to the data centres uses AES-256, and according to the website the keys remain with the customer. Data of departed employees stays in the Microsoft 365 backup even after the account has been deleted.
