Myra Security The European alternative to Cloudflare

Myra Security is a security-as-a-service platform from Myra Security GmbH in Munich, founded in 2012. It protects websites, applications and networks against DDoS attacks and combines this protection with a web application firewall, bot management and a content delivery network. The CDN caches content in the memory of its edge servers and supports real-time invalidation, origin load balancing and image optimisation with WebP conversion. Management is handled via a web portal and the Myra API v2 REST interface, which can be integrated into CI/CD pipelines. Myra also offers network DDoS protection in the cloud, on premises or as a hybrid setup.

Myra operates its own infrastructure with points of presence addressed via anycast. According to a company announcement from 2019, Myra is present at the internet exchanges DE-CIX in Frankfurt, BCIX in Berlin, AMS-IX in Amsterdam, VIX in Vienna and SwissIX in Zurich, and operates further locations in Paris and Madrid as well as in the USA. Myra does not publish a current list of all locations. The platform is audited under BSI C5 (type 2), ISO 27001 based on IT-Grundschutz and PCI DSS. The operator is a German GmbH, and contracts are subject to German law.

Myra is aimed at organisations with high requirements for availability and compliance, such as banks, insurers, public authorities, large enterprises and operators of critical infrastructure (KRITIS). Among its references the company lists Sparkassen, DKB, Edeka and 1&1 Versatel. According to the company, Myra was the first provider to meet all 37 BSI criteria for qualified DDoS protection providers. Prices are calculated individually, and an online calculator on the website provides an initial price indication. For attacks in progress, Myra offers an emergency contact.
