Vivaldi The European alternative to Chrome / Edge

Vivaldi is a web browser from Norwegian Vivaldi Technologies AS, based in Oslo. The browser is built on the Chromium engine and offers features such as tab stacking, tab tiling, an integrated mail client, calendar, RSS feed reader, notes, and web panels. Vivaldi is available for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS and supports over 50 languages. The company was founded in 2013 by former Opera developers.

Vivaldi has offices in Norway and Iceland, both EEA countries with strong privacy laws. The sync servers are located in Iceland and use end-to-end encryption, meaning Vivaldi cannot read the synchronized data. According to the provider, no telemetry or profiling data is collected. Ads and trackers are natively blocked, and generative AI features have been deliberately not integrated.

Vivaldi removes Google telemetry and sends no data to Google, despite the browser being based on Chromium. Features such as mouse gestures, command chains, tab stacking, and the built-in mail client are not available in Chrome. The business model is based on search engine partnerships and voluntary donations rather than data collection. All features are free, there is no Pro version.
